When I reply to an email a new window opens. I don't want a new window. I have seen all the discussion on how to start a reply at the bottom or top of an email string, but nothing about not opening a new window.

re: When I reply to an email a new window opens.

This has always been the case. It has never opened in a tab. All new Write messages, Replies and Forwards open in a Write window.

There is a bug report requesting that the Write window could open in a tab instead of a window, but it has not been developed as yet. Some people think this would be better.

I personally prefer the option to Write an email in one window and have Thunderbird visible in another window so that I can read incoming mail and write one at the same time. it also means I can view my Address Book symultaneously as well.
