I finally installed firefox for the first time yesterday. I was impressed with the speed. I have windows XP that was new at the time on my Compaq Presario V5000 laptop. I was unable to upload Explorer 8 and the other 2 options on the Ford Motor Co. Web site were Firefox and Chrome. I choose Firefox. When I go to the Ford web site--the photos do not scroll from side to side--and they partially load below the first set of photos when on Firefox (the top 1/3 of the lower row of photos show) when I load the original Explorer back on these photos set and scroll correct and the partial row does not show and that would be correct. On the positive side, besides speed, the listing of truck standard equipment and options scrolled top to bottom correctly. On Explorer it is hard to hold in position when scrolling. In addition my concern is with virus and spyware protection--I use the microsoft free protection--but I believe when using firefox I don't have any. In addition the Ford site when I try to play the videos--it says I need flash player--and then it trys to install and wont.

Your System Details List shows that you have Shockwave Flash 11.9 r900 installed.

You can check the Flash plugin version here:

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
