can't access protonmail.com, wrong name or password, works with out thunderbird

I can access my account going directly to protonmail.com w/o using Thunderbird. When I try to access & set up w/tbird. it responds w/ name or password is incorrect. Tried 3 or 4 times. Tbird. works fine for gmail, this is very frustrating as I hate gmail.

Do you have the ProtonMail Bridge installed and running on your system prior to attempting to add the account to Thunderbird? Currently that's the only way to check your ProtonMail from a third-party mail client.
