Is it possible to substitute url from urlbar
Hi,
I am wondering is it possible to substitute url from firefox urlbar in such a way so other programs will think that I am browsing new substituted url?
E.g. 1) I have opened google.com 2) When I need to check some flag and substitute google.com to youtube.com in some extension or settings page 3) Other program on my Windows PC(RescueTime) will now think that I am on youtube.com page but I am still on google.com
So, is it point 2) possible somehow? any extensions?
Thanks in advance.
Regards, Aliaksei

Hi Aliaksei,
That sounds more of a question for the RescueTime people if you think their software is giving the wrong results.

Thanks for the reply. RescueTime is ok and behaves as it should. I was asking is it possible from Firefox side to do such a trick? Maybe using some plugin?

That software seems to monitor your computer activity. What is shown initially or finally in the url bar is probably not too significant. Is this a case of not your computer, and software someone else installed ? If so contact the owner or IT Dept. for advice.
Thank you for your advices.
This is my computer and I have installed both FF and RescueTime. So question is still here.
What triggers the program to record a different URL? If it requires that you actually load a page before it starts timing that site, then futzing with the address bar, the page title, or other page appearance shouldn't fool it.
Anyway, I have seen add-ons which modify the appearance of the address bar to look simpler, like Safari on Mac, or to use a "breadcrumb" style display, so an add-on definitely can change the contents of that area. Whether that will fool anyone is a different question!
