When starting Thunderbird, get dubious log-in message (with correct email filled in)
Hi,
Noticed the following when starting Thunderbird (problem reoccurred after updating Thunderbird to 31.1.2) , an extra browser screen appears, with content similar to the login page for a google account (I will try to add a screenshot, I do not see an option here).
As thunderbird works nicely without filling in the password and clicking on OK (I even got the 'register' email for using this forum), there is no valid reason for Thunderbird asking me this password. Is my thunderbird 'hacked'? The log-in screen comes up any time I reopen thunderbird, and according to the Windows taskmanager, it is a thunderbird proces. For the record: I did not install any new add-ons, and no strange add-ons are listed.
Kind regards, Roel Link to screenshot (Dropbox): Dropbox link to screenshot

OK, it seems that the google calendar thing (Lightning) was the cause. Somehow, Lightning and/or the 'provider for google calendar' had forgotten how to access the calendar. (For the record: disabling these add-ons 'solved' the problem. The problem is PROBABLY not due to an infection or similar of that add-on. As the use of the calendar is no longer neccessary - I use my tablet & phone for that - I just keep these disabled).
Your seeing the authentication dialog from Googles use of oauth2.0 for calendar access. Like with mail accounts. Thunderbird can store the password, but until you provide the password, or disable the add-on as you have done, you will continue to be bugged by requests.
If you had provided your password you would have seen a google page advising that lighning wanted access to your calendar data.
