Mozilla thunderbird is not responding to attemps to log into my email Has been happening every couple days, happening now. HELP
When I close down the non-functional thunderbird basic frame, it says it is reporting the problem to Microsoft. I never know if/when the mail is going to work. No useful information on what to do to fix. - Dwight

And that report to Microsoft goes in the bin.
You could try starting in troubleshooting mode. Hold the shift key while starting Thunderbird. Otherwise you are largely left with this https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Memory_Usage_Problems
