I have several search engines setup and have been using them without any problems. Now with iOS 26 and Firefox 143.0.1 (61598), I’ve lost the ability to select the engine when typing in the address bar. But I found that it works fine when I set the address bar to display on the bottom. Did iOS 26 break this?

If the alternative search engine option is broken on iOS 16/17/18/26 beta, it’s usually a Safari or system bug. Try these steps:

Go to Settings > Safari > Search Engine and re-select your preferred engine.

If it still fails, clear Safari history & website data.

Make sure both iOS and Safari are updated to the latest patch.

If you’re on an iOS beta, the bug may persist until Apple releases a fix — report it via the Feedback app.

In short: re-select the engine, clear Safari data, and keep iOS updated. If it’s a system bug, only Apple’s next update will fully fix it.
