Hi

Firefox Sync is designed to be used over two devices - it is a way to move a copy of bookmarks and passwords (and other information) so that you have them with you.

It is not designed as a backup or just for one device. If you only have one copy of Firefox on one device, you may not find it as useful. There is no requirement to sign in to Firefox and you can use it to browse the web without doing so.
