Why is Firefox erasing my passwords?
I am running 7.0.1, have "remember history" selected, have "remember passwords for sites" selected... Passwords stay in "Show Passwords" until I close the browser, but when I reopen FF, they are gone! Any Ideas?

Make sure that you do not use Clear Recent History to clear the Passwords when you close Firefox.
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files key3.db and signons.sqlite that store the encrypted names and passwords in Firefox.
Rename the files key3.db and signons.sqlite in the Firefox profile folder.
You can add .old to the file names (key3.db.old and signons.sqlite.old) or move them to another folder to make it possible to undo the action.
You need to set a new Master Password after renaming or deleting key3.db and all currently saved passwords are lost.
If that has worked then you can remove the renamed files that are no longer needed.

Hello, and thanks for your answer to my question. Here is what i found, and what happened...I went to the profile folder found key3.db there were about 50 key3's there- each with an extension like this (from Dell-2) the next one: (from Dell-3) and so on to (from Dell-38) I moved all of them except one to a different folder, renamed the one left to key3.db. I also moved the signons.sqlite to the other folder, then I restarted firefox. Everything went just right- it remembered my username and password- twice. The next time- nada. then, in the preferences folder, there was my file: Key3 (from Dell-1) I tried it again with the same results, then in the profile folder there was key3 (from Dell-2) Everytime I use firefox, it builds another key3 file with a consecutive (from Dell-*) Any more ideas?
Is that a Dell PC? What sort of Dell software is installed?
My suspicion is that some sort of Dell software is interfering with the Firefox Password Manager and is causing corruption of the key3.db file, thus forcing Firefox to create a new file.
Yes, it's a Dell Inspiron I had no problems with my passwords until about a week ago... I am running Windows 7 and firefox 7.0.1 I'm not sure how to determine the Dell software...
