My address bar is not working

Firefox stopped working on my computer about a week ago. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times clearing out everything in the process. I currently have version 3.6.15 installed. No matter what i type into the address bar it does not do anything. I hit the enter key and also try clicking the arrow and nothing happens. I can type into the search bar and it works and I can go to websites from the search results. I am using Windows 7 64bit OS. I have reset everything in safe mode and it does not help.

Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

I have tried deleting the add-ons in safe mode and I have reinstalled Firefox several times. There are 4 extensions and 13 plugins that will not go away. I cannot do anything with them. Clicking on disable or uninstall does not do anything. I went into Safe Mode and selected to delete add-ons but they are still there. I cannot get rid of them.
