password manager no longer works...settings seem ok..can you help ??

I have looked at the settings, they seem ok...I dont get the bar at the top asking if I would like FFox to remember passwords. It was working earlier this year but not now....not sure if it since FFox was updated

Firefox 4 doesn't show a bar but adds a key icon to the location bar and opens a pop-up dialog similar to what you get if you click the highlighted star to edit a bookmarked page.

Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode.

  • You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
  • To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Uncheck: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"

Thanks......password manager is functional since I changed the privacy settings you suggested....
