Firefox seems to run OK. After closing it, it sometimes stays running and has to be closed through Task Manager. On turning off the computer there is a pause and then the 'Not responding' box appears for program 'n' which also has to be closed through TM. This does not happen with Internet Explorer.

It is a common case of Firefox. After shutting down Firefox, the browser still keeps running for a while for syncing your settings, saving your closed tabs or some other background stuff, therefore it is not a bug if the ‘firefox.exe’ is not disappeared immediately after you clicked ‘X’ on Firefox window. Moreover, if you are just shutting down the computer, you can directly kill the firefox.exe process from Task Manager or Windows itself. Although it is not recommended, I still didn’t face any lost of data everytime when I kill it.
