cac81476, you could try the steps in this article to see if your bookmarks and other missing data can be found in a different profile: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recover-user-data-missing-after-firefox-update

I have tried the steps, it does not work I cannot create new bookmarks or find the ones I had. This is absolute bs Help

cac81476, if you cannot create new bookmarks then it might be worth checking the integrity of your Places Database files, which are where Firefox stores bookmarks and their icons. To do this:

  1. Go to Help menu (press alt+H).
  2. Select "More Troubleshooting Information".
  3. On the page that opens, scroll down to "Places Database" and press the "Verify Integrity" button.
  4. Once the check has finished, Look for any lines in the report that startt with a "-" or that contain the term "error".

If any errors are reported, try restarting Firefox and re-running the integrity check to see if they were fixed by the first check. You may want to repeat this 'restart and re-check' process again if errors are still found.

Since you can't even create new bookmarks, your underlying database file (places.sqlite) is locked or corrupted. The update likely interrupted Firefox while it was writing data. To fix this, you need to clear out the broken file and let Firefox rebuild it:

  1. Go to Help > More Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Next to 'Profile Folder', click Open Folder (or Show in Finder).
  3. Close Firefox completely.
  4. In the folder that opened, find and delete places.sqlite (along with places.sqlite-shm and places sqlite-wal if they are there).
  5. Reopen Firefox. You will now be able to save bookmarks again.

To get your old ones back: Press Ctrl + Shift + O to open the Library, click Import and Backup at the top, hover over Restore, and select a backup date from just before your update. That will restore everything instantly.
