Can't add GMail Account to Thunderbird

Win10 Thunderbird 91.5.1 I want to add a gmail mail account to thunderbird. I type in email, user/password and TB recognizes the correct setting. But if I want to finish, the message "login on server failed. Please check configuration, user or password" is displayed.


In my very first try i was asked by google on my phone to verify my identity. This check failed, presumably of reduced speed and following timeout Maybe i am refused from then on by google? Can anyone help me?

Any help is welcome! Thanx!

i succeeded! The problem was that Thunderbird didn't use the given password, but that was safed formerly by thunderbird with the gmail account. After i cleared that one, i could connect.
