HOw can I enable the automatcally check for updates option? It is checked but not enabld.

I have a Firefox 3.0 version and cannot get updates. When I go to Preferences -Advanced-Update, Firefox is checked to be automatically updated, but is greyedout. Under Help the Cjeck for updates option is not available.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html

Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.

Install the new version that you have downloaded.

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.
