Want to save a .JPG image as... A .JPG!!!!

Scroll through a web page. Hey - there's an image I want to save! I right click on it and select "View Image" to make sure the host site isn't doing anything stupid. Nope - all good! Image shows up it it's own browser window, and address bar shows the path to the file on the host's server - AND IT ENDS IN ".JPG"

Right click - "Save Image As..."

Why THE HELL does the file dialog come up ONLY offering me the option to save as ".WEBP"???

It's shown in the browser as a JPG. I want to SAVE IT IN THE SAME FORMAT!  :(

Thanks...

Some servers re-encode image files on the fly and even if the URL shows .jpg then they may still serve you a .webp file if they think that the browser supports this format.

There are some extensions you can look at.

Its a browser issue. I copied the url to Microsoft Edge and it allowed me to save it as a jpg just fine.
