I checked the installed Programs on My Windows 8.1 laptop, and saw that two x86 versions of Thunderbird are installed - 115.10 on 05/07/2024 and 115.118.0 on 30/06/2025

Should I remove version 115.10?

Could two installed versions be causing the following to happen?

I have set incoming server settings correctly for each email account - outlook.office365.com SSL/TLS, OAuth2 and the outgoing server settings are correct - smtp.office365.com Port 587, STARTTLS, OAuth2

Microsoft is repeatedly requiring me to enter passwords for email accounts.

This message often displays: Login to server SMTP.Office365.com with username x failed.

When I click 'Send' I often receive: Sending of the message failed. Unable to authenticate to outgoing server SMTP-mail.outlook.com

and

Authentication failure when connecting to server Outlook.Office365.com

Advice on anything else I should check / change will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hello,

I have saved thousands of emails over the time in several local folders. Near 8Gb of emails with their attached documents. The local folder is in a Synology NAS in my local network.

I was trying to retrieve some of the emails saved in that local folders and found that I couldn't read any of the saved emails. I could see the list of the emails in all the folders but when clicked in one of the emails of the list, nothing was showed.

By saving all the files to the computer, I can read again all the emails. Never happened that it was a problem to read from the NAS. I could see a status bar in the bottom of the window showing the progress in the loading and after a short while, the email and the attached files were shown and loaded.

My local network seems to work ok and also the Synology.

So, my question is, has anything changed that blocks the reading of emails from the local network? Any idea on how to have the emails stored in the NAS?

Hello I was using Thunderbird on a Windows 7 PC and I want to migrate to a Windows 10 PC. I can't retrieve my emails even though I'm following the transfer procedure between 2 Windows PCs. I copy the 2 directories %appdata local and roaming I should point out that I had changed the message storage location in the server settings to have it on the D: partition, which I back up regularly. When I start Thunderbird, it will obviously search for unread messages on the Orange server, but I cannot find all the history that I had on the source PC. Thank you for your help Daniel

Je ne parviens pas à récupérer mes mails bien que je suive la procédure de transfert entre 2 PC Windows Je copie les 2 répertoires %appdata local et roaming Je précise que j'avais changé l'emplacement de stockage des messages dans les paramètres du serveur pour l'avoir sur la partition D: que je sauvegarde régulièrement. Quand je lance Thunderbird, il va manifestement rechercher les messages non lus sur le serveur Orange, mais je ne retrouve pas tout l'historique que j'avais sur le PC source. When I click "Write" and compose an email, the text I type is very, very small. I have tried all the settings in the font settings, etc. I can choose a larger font, but then the text becomes very large for the recipient as well. It can't be correct that the text should be so small, it is hard to read it, that small is it. This happened after reinstalling the new version of Thunderbird this evening. When the email is sent it is ok size. See enclosed pictures:

1) When writing -> Too small 2) In the inbox -> Ok size 3) Email is opened -> Ok size

I really hope someone can help! =)

After updating to 140 (release update channel), IMAP folders keep downloading all emails in a folder, even though the vast majority of them are already local. I get the message "Downloading message x of y in folder" and it goes folder by folder, some of these folders have a lot of mail so this can take ages.

I do have a lot of folders and emails, I have tried compacting and searched for weeks, and only very old and not exactly this issue, any ideas?

Hi, I wonder if anyone has had a similar problem - since a few days I get an immediate SMTP timeout in Thunderbird for some mail servers but not all. For Outlook the same server works just fine. Version 140.0.1esr has recently been autoinstalled. It is possible that the problems started when that version was installed but I am not sure about the timing. The email provider has no explanation and claims there is no problem on its side. Also, Thunderbird has recently asked me to confirm a server certificate for receiving emails. Usually when that happens I also get asked the same question when sending emails, but this time I did not get the question for sending, I just get the timeout message.

I have an e-mail in my TB in-box. The mail contains a hyperlink to Facebook. When I click on the hyperlink, I get the message copied above in the Subject of this problem. In almost all cases, if I re-click on the icon in the e-mail, the re-click takes me to the desired URL in Firefox. My Thunderbird is 128.11.1esr (64-bit). Why is the first click producing the error message? Would there be anything in the TB Error Console?

As a result, many users rely on the built-in repositories of their Linux distributions to install Thunderbird. Unfortunately, the Thunderbird versions provided by many of these repositories are outdated. Using outdated versions poses security risks and does not meet modern security standards. I believe Thunderbird should provide an Arm64 build on Flathub so that users can more easily access the latest version of Thunderbird.

Je rencontre un problème au niveau du password. En effet, sur un ordinateur thunderbird ne veut pas garder en mémoire le mot de passe que l'on renseigne en cochant la case gestionnaire alors qu'on arrive bien a s'y connecter quand on utilise nos outils internes.
