i didn't start noticing this problem until today, but previously my firefox would crash every so often... today i tried scrolling down tumblr and my firefox proceeded to crash. i restarted it, tried to get back onto tumblr again and it kept crashing. i gave up on using tumblr and just proceeded to do everything else. say four - six hours later, i was watching a video and created a new tab, searched something in google and lo and behold that crashed. i restarted it, tried google again, it crashed. restarted firefox, tried facebook, it crashed. restarted, it almost immediately crashed. instead of getting bug report this time, it asked if i would like to start in safe mode or reset to how it was when you first download it... i selected safe mode. crashes immediately every time... please help...

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox location bar (that's where you enter your website names) and press Enter. You should now see a list of submitted crash reports.
  2. Copy the most recent 5 report IDs that you see in the crash report window and paste them into your forum response.

Thanks in advance for your help!

More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

You can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:

  • disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
  • disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

Did you try to disable hardware acceleration?

I have disabled hardware acceleration, it crashed after a few seconds. Today I have been downloading some large files. This is my third attempt - lost large partially downloaded (~ 500 MB x 2) files TWICE already.

I guess it is time to give IE9 another try !!!!

Hi LT2013.

Can you please start a new thread for your question?

Then you can provide more information like your operating system and installed extensions and installed plugins.

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more crash reports that have this format:

  • bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.

  • You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.
