I selected private browsing and keep me signed in, but each time I launch Firefox, it says I'm signing in for the first time and have to verify. How can I fix?

I want to use private browsing when I launch Firefox from the doc. (mac 0S 10.11.6) I select this in Preferences. I check the box that says to keep me signed in. BUT: each time I launch this browser after closing it (without signing out) and then launch again it treats me as if it doesn't recognize me and makes me go t hrough the email, password and verification process all over again. Very annoying and frustrating.!!

What website are you trying to sign in to? does it happens with all sites?

or are you talking about Firefox creating you a brand new profile each time?

When you are in PB mode then a separate in memory cookie jar is used and all cookies are session cookies that are purged automatically when you close all PB mode windows. If you want a website to remember you then you can't use PB mode because no cookies will survive a close and restart of Firefox.

I'm trying to sign into myyahoo.com (customized Yahoo home page) There's a box to check "remember me", but it obviously doesn't.

Another support person is telling me that because I'm in private browsing mode, Firefox CAN'T remember me after I close the browser.
That seems to make sense, but then PB becomes a nuisance, because each time not only do I have to enter email and password, but send verification to my mobile and enter yet another code. !!! It doesn't seem worth it if I have to take four steps each time Iaunch Firefox .
So, go back to public browsing and hope for the best?

So why don't you visit these website that you want to remember you in a normal mode window?

PB mode is meant to be used this way and no session data it saved to the profile folder, so the cookie(s) that make the website remember you won't survive a close and restart of Firefox. The two are not compatible, so you either will have to accept that a website doesn't remember you when you are using PB mode or refrain from using PB mode when visiting specific websites.
