I have a problem with Thunderbird which might be a bit niche but here goes...
The first attempt at sending an email fails as TLS Record Layer v1 is used, the mail server sees this and hard resets the connection so sending halts. See attached Wireshark trace screenshot "Failed".
If I retry the send again Thunderbird uses TLS Record Layer v1.3 and the email goes out ok. See attached Wireshark trace screenshot "Success".
If I send another message immediately no problem but if I wait 20-30 minutes the above cycle happens again.
I have set the minimum TLS version in the config to 1.3 (option 4) and restarted Thunderbird but this has not changed anything.
Any ideas how I can fix this? It's a pain because automated replies don't work.

I remember a time, where it was possible to simply drag a contact to a new mail to send it to friends. Shortly I wanted to send my wife a contact she lost, but it was no more possible, to attach it to a mail. Even an export of this single contact is not possible. Why?
I don't like to export the whole contact folder for her, because there are many contacts she will never use. So it should be possible to export 1 single contact as .vcf alone.
I would be happy, if the developers would rebuild this functionality for a future update. Thanks.

Hi All,
I was writing an email, and completed a spell check where I had written "inital" instead of initial. I clicked on replace with Initial as I have done with many errors in the past, but this time the change wasnt made to the text before the email was sent.
Now, whenever I write inital as a test, it is no longer underlined in red and the spell checker is happy with it.
I have checked the personal dictionary list to see if I added it by mistake but its empty. Also, If I choose another english dictionary i.e. English (United Kingdom) it is once again recognised as a typo.
Is there a way for me to remove and reinstall the Australian English dictionary, or is there an easier solution I can try?
I am a relative newcomer to Linux but can follow terminal directions if provided. Thanks for your help!

iMac 24Gb M4 Chip macOS Tahoe 26.4
When I request a search through Unified Folders Inbox for 10 email addresses using Quick Filter, CPU goes to 80% or more, and response is 10-15 seconds. Main search appears to be ok. Only add-on was a printer service but has been disabled and problem still remains. In troubleshooting mode, search still causes high CPU, even though I can only search one email address. Just started about 2-3 days ago (around 17-18 June).
Any ideas?

This morning I realised I did not have a Unified Sent folder. There was a Sent folder in my list of folders in the Unified Folders section but there were no child folders and it was empty when I clicked on it. The Unified Folders for Inbox and Deleted were fine and I could click the arrow and select individual email accounts, it was only the Sent folder which was affected.
I tried numerous things, including clicking on each email account's Sent folder and clicking on 'Repair' and I think this iis what fixed it and now I have child folders in Sent and that seems to be working correctly... BUT now my Unified Inbox has disappeared!!! There is a folder called Inbox in the Unified Folders list but it is empty. If I right-click on it, there is no option to 'choose' any folders. I've tried clicking on each inbox and clicking repair (as this seemed to fix the sent folder issue), but it had no effect. I've renamed my virtualFolder.DAT to virtualFolder.old and I can see a new virtualFolder has been created, nothing has worked. Can anyone please help??

A change I find very bothersome is that when I now search the calendar (All Events) the results return a separate entry for each occurrence of a recurring event instead of just the one definition of the recurring event. How do I make the search behave as it did previously? I have dozens of recurring events that recur weekly and have been using Thunderbird for over a decade... I am staring at hundreds of duplicate search results which also temporarily freezes the app while they load in. This is not a functional design.

This will also affect the Description and Attachments tabs.
With a lot of moving and resizing, the window can be resized to show everything, but then it extends far beyond the size of the screen. This is impractical.
The list of participants should never exceed the confines of the window and should be scrollable.

Hello, It's been a few days Thunderbird freezes when I want to save a message on the computer (save as). When I close the saving window which is not responding, it automatically saves the message on my desktop. The file where the last message was successfully saved is still existing so I don't think it is a path problem. I have tried to restart it without the add-on but it doesn't change anything. And it is up-to-date. Anyone knows what the problem could be? Thank you! Estelle

I'm trying to trim down my hard drive, and I see that my Profiles folder has 2 ImapMail subfolders. In the first of them, imap-gmail, I have 14 All Mail files numbered "-1" to "-13" plus the most recent All Mail (today's date), unnumbered. Most of these All Mail files are quite large. Can I delete all of them except the most recent, unnumbered one? In the second subfolder, imap-gmail1, the files are all from before 2025, and instead of multiple "All Mail" files I have multiple "rstmp" files. What's the deal? Can I delete this whole folder? Is it a backup? Thanks for your help. FYI, I'm up to date in Windows 11 and Thunderbird, with a fairly new computer. I hope I've provided enough into. hello, i had a friend and his father needed urgently to migrate his thunderbird with 1 email to a new computer but he wasnt able to setup the emailaccount in a new german client. i helped and the problem was that the setup asks for the password but it meant the password from the emailprovider to allow thirdpartyapps access. please consider to improve the german setup wizard by adding a new textline to clearify. best regards
