Every time I would like to access the support.microsoft.com page, I am redirected to support2, resulting in an error:

--

Oops!

We’re sorry - this page may not be available in your country location or may no longer exist.

We recommend you visit our home page where you can also search for support, or contact us if you’re stuck. We’ll be happy to help!

--

This error ONLY occurs with the support.microsoft website.

I can open the very same website with IE11 without problems.

This is for weeks now. Initially I assumed it was Microsoft reorganizing their support sites, but only I gave it a try and checked their support sites using IE.

I have cleared Firefox's - Internet Cache - Internet History - Cookies (they are cleared after each restart of FF)

I am using Emsisoft Internet Security and MBAM

also I ran HitmanPro and Adwcleaner

They all found nothing.

Hosts file are still default (2009) Firefox v37.0.2. WIndows 7 x64 Add ons: -Easy Youtube Video Downloader Express v8.01 -Flash and Video Download 1.70 -Print Edit 15.5 -Roboform Toolbar -Zoom Page 13.0

However, I don't believe it is a matter of add-ons.

Firefox is running fine Again, this is with with microsoft *only*

Any suggestions??

Does this still happen in a New Private Window?

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.

It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Thanks for the comments.

I am not sure about 'New Private Windwow' - I think I am not opening a new private window - wouldnt'n know where to look.

As for forget about this site - when I click on History/Show all history, it is blanc.

This issue has been going on for weeks...

Today(!) I can't reproduce it, I hate this because I don't know why it has been happening all the time in the past.

So, as an example, say I would like to have information about knowledge base 179113 normally (actually it is abnormal) support2.microsoft.com/en-us/179113 would be opened, with an error.

Today, the normal support.microsoft..etc (without the '2') is opened correctly.

I did try with double clicking the Firefox desktop icon pressing shift, i.e. opening safe mode, before I tried the above. Assume it has nothing to do with the opening of the site correctly in 2nd instance.

Anyway, it still is a mystery and I would like to keep this 'pending'.

Also it is difficult to mark this issue as 'solved'. When a problem does not occurr for unknown reasons, marking the reply as solved. Well 'solved by itself' maybe...  :-)
