Pop up notification for an outdated profile/version of firefox when firefox was closed which made the game tab out and I couldn't move until I was able to tab back in. How do I get rid of this and keep my current profile and get it up to date so that I can use the same profile?

Using Windows 11. I try to update from ESR (version 140.13) to the release path. It concludes with a pop-up saying I must "reboot to finish a Thunderbird de-install" (or words to that effect). I reboot and it hasn't done anything. Version 140.13ESR is still present and if I repeat the update to release, the same thing happens.

I fear if I use the W11 tools to de-install Thunderbird altogether before re-installing TB from scratch, I'll lose all my existing email.
