hi Clicking the addons icon it shows all installed. But when you have 20+x addons it is no fun to search for an addon, even not in an unsorted list. How can i sort them by name?

We currently have a policy in place to block extensions in Firefox. Apparently, we need to create another policy that allows only approved extensions. However, we can no longer create this policy because the relevant settings are no longer available, as the previous ADMX and ADML files are in the process of being removed.

The removal cannot be completed because the ADMX and ADML files are still being used by the existing policy. We also cannot delete the current policy because it is deployed in production.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to resolve this issue without affecting the production environment?

I've started experimenting with Vibecoding some extensions for myself.. But I keep hitting a problem where TB reports back that folders are stale.

Specifically I'll hit something like this:

Usually when I go look at these folders in the UI, the total-email-count for the folder in blank, but the Size of the folder will show >1kb (eg .. something greater than zero). If I click on the folder, TB updates the summary file and all is well, for a while.

Some folders do report as no messages, and "blank" for file size as well.. but those seem to be genuinely empty.

These types of issues are causing pain in several extension ideas I've had, and I can't seem to figure out a way to handle them.

For example: I had an idea to create and extension to delete empty folders. The original version would encounter these NS_MSG_ERROR_FOLDER_SUMMARY_OUT_OF_DATE folders, and then just wipe them out as TB told the extension there were no emails in it. I found this out a little too late for some folders..

Another idea was to create and manage Virtual Search folders automatically. But I've hit a similar issue there with this staleness and had to skip such folders.

I've tried to get the extensions to trigger rebuilding summary files when we hit this error, but that never seems to do the job. The only method I've found is to open the folder manually in TB. Sometimes I'll find that starting a Search across the folders also helps - but that also tends to bail out unexplained.

I'm working with a lot of emails and folders..

If anyone can help explain why TB "forgets" whats in a folder, and how to trigger a summary-rebuild for a specific folder I'd be interested in hearing it.

When I opened Firefox today, I couldn't open the add-ons page with the shortcut Ctrl + shift + A like I could before, it just did this other thing with the address bar with "tabs" at the beginning. Why isn't the shortcut working like it should? It was working fine yesterday and I'm not going to waste my time learning to use the browser some other way because some bonehead thought they have the authority to force an unnecessary change on my browser use that I didn't ask for.

I absolutely do not want "perplexity" anywhere near my Firefox IOS environment. I don't like it, and further dislike "perplexity" inserting itself to my browser experience. I consider "perplexity" a nuisense and an obstacle to my search habits. I have followed a removal process by logging into my "perplexity" account under Settings, and requesting Delete with no success, "perplexity" remains.

Please share with me how to rid "perplexity" my Firefox browser experience!

I am using the add on 'sidebery' for vertical tabs.

Recently I updated to FF 157.0 and saw this annoying part in the sidebar (as seen in the image attached "started like that...")!

I didn't ask for taking up THAT much space in the sidebar area that could fit almost TWO vertical tabs in it! Can you (or I?) somehow make it go away completely?

The userChrome.css 'trick' with sidebar-header #sidebar-box {

  display: none !important;  

} didn't do it.

...

So...Fast forward and another update took place (158.0) and looking at the attached image ("now..."). That space needs to be GONE for good. Like it was before. And not with a label tacked on top. :)

Can you make go away?

I'm using firefox 158.0.1 (64 bit) on a windows 11 pro on an HP workstation with an 8 core intel xeon processor and 64gb of memory.

The hard drive that my firefox profile is on is seemingly being slowly filled by an add-on. However, since firefox now is using a symbolic names instead of easily identifiable/meaningful names, I don't know which add-on is causing the issue. My understanding is that Firefox developers did this to help obfuscate web sites from determining what add-ons might processing their site's pages when a user accesses their website..

What I have found is that the following directory in my firefox profile storage directory {FirefoxProfile\storage\default} has a sub-directory named {moz-extension+++764e262a-b66e-46e4-8ecf-f668f3a08bfe} that has grown to over 13GB! Further, I've noticed that that logical drive is getting accessed a lot, and this likely explains it My question is how to determine which add-on is writing to the sub-directory {moz-extension+++764e262a-b66e-46e4-8ecf-f668f3a08bfe}.

I really don't want to do a full reset of firefox as I have lots of tabs open for various reasons, and don't want to lose site cookies (not trackers) that keep me logged into various websites.

So if someone can help me find a cross-reference of "764e262a-b66e-46e4-8ecf-f668f3a08bfe" to it's actual extension name, I can clobber that particular extension without having to do the full reset. I assume somewhere in Firefox's data files there has to be a cross-reference from this mapped name to the actual add-on.

I'd like to find addons for Dropbox. To work as much as possible with moving files to other cloud storeges, and also to save files on Dropbox. I'd really appreciate if anyone can recommend something that works... :-) I'm living in Stockholm-Sweden and it starts gettin to cold to be outdoors. Hope someone comes back to me with something good.
