Hi there I have been using Thunderbird for many years to manage the same many mail accounts on diverse PCs. I prefer using a portable version from portableapps.com, partly because when it comes to transferring to another gadget, it suffices just moving the portable folder, and I do not have to create dozens of accounts in a fresh install. Of late, I have been getting frequent irritating error messages for 2 Yahoo accounts. It connects to them & I can receive mail, but for automatic connections to the server in between, I keep getting error messages like: The current operation on 'inbox' did not succeed.' The mail account to abc@yahoo.com responded: p.', ... etc The other day, after reading about possible solutions from some forums, I decided to just delete both accounts and used the recommended Thunderbird connection settings for Yahoo to create the 2 accounts anew. I thought the problem was solved, only to have the same alerts every now & then reappearing, which amounts to a lot, if you have Thunderbird on many hours a day. I consistently update Thunderbird, the moment I'm alerted to a new version. I also have Gmail, Outlook, AOL(AIM) & other accounts, but not get similar issues. How do I permanently solve this problem? Hi, I am running a windows 10 with Thunderbird version 157.0.1 (64bit) IMAP version. I am having problems with quite a few of my old messages not wanting to open when I click on them. This is the message that pops up (Server mail.daystar.io has disconnected. The server may have gone down or there may be a network problem.) mail.daystar.io is my carrier.

When starting thunderbird without a working internet connection, I get an annoying amount of dialog windows reminding me for each email message box/server that the connection can't be estabilshed. The german text is „Verbindung mit Server <server> konnte nicht hergestellt werden.“ (sorry, dont have the english one..., its basically „connection to server <server> couldnt be established“). One has to click "ok" on each of these warnings and there seems to be no possibility to silence them. I mean, I know that I don't have internet (or know that the internet is buggy atm, even if I retry to get messages.) To have a message at all could be okay, but it very much interferes with reading messages (which works fine with buggy internet...) as they just pop up. I even couldn't find any settings or configuration in the configuration list searching for anything containing „dialog“ or „connect“ (which would be my/the expected place for silencing any dialogs regarding connection issues.)

How can I get Thunderbird getting to work with me again and not interfering with workflow?

Hello, since recently I am no longer able to use my Google Calendars in Thunderbird. Environment: - Thunderbird 153.4.0esr, 64-bit - Windows11 - Google Calendar / CalDAV - No “Provider for Google Calendar” add-on installed Problem: My Google calendars previously worked normally in Thunderbird. Recently Thunderbird started showing that the calendar was temporarily unavailable, and attempts to modify events resulted in: MODIFICATION_FAILED I therefore removed all Google calendars from Thunderbird and tried to add them again. When adding the calendar using: https://calendar.google.com Thunderbird opens the Google OAuth login. I can log in successfully with the correct Google account and complete the authentication process. However, afterwards Thunderbird reports: “The entered credentials were rejected. Please check the settings above.” I have already tried the following several times: - removed all stored Google / OAuth credentials from Thunderbird - restarted Thunderbird - verified that cookies are enabled - verified that no VPN is active - tested the Google Calendar successfully in the browser - tried the direct CalDAV endpoint at apidata.googleusercontent.com - confirmed that the “Provider for Google Calendar” extension is not installed The Google account and Calendar itself work normally in the browser. The issue therefore appears to be related to Thunderbird’s Google Calendar OAuth / CalDAV authentication. Could you please confirm whether this is a known issue in Thunderbird 153.4.0esr and whether there is a workaround or fix planned? Thank you.

Windows 11, Dell laptop, Thunderbird Meadow 153.4.0, yahoo mail configured as pop3 (i like to keep messages on my laptop). I was having trouble with mail getting "stuck" on downloading the past week or two, sporadically. It would load maybe 13 of 90, or 4 of 64, or whatever, then I'd get a "Connection to server timed out" message. I went online to the yahoo mail site to look for some offensive email that was trying to load and delete it; deleted about 50 of the messages that would've been sent to Thunderbird, then tried again. Did this a few times. Today it started where it wouldn't even load 1 of 34, or 1 of 60, or 1 of 96 as the day went on, would just time out on trying to load the first one.

Tried changing to IMAP temporarily, didn't help. Switched back. Didn't help. (Restarting each time I'd change this). Finally resorted to deleting the account (and all of my folders and filters! argghhh!) and re-adding it. Let Thunderbird automatically configure it for pop3. I did change the setting to not have it delete the messages on the yahoo mail server once loaded into Thunderbird.

Seemed to help, and it immediately tried to download the 3800+ messages that I've saved on the yahoo mail server. Only got to 1900, then stopped and timed out.

When I ask it to download new messages, it's back to the same thing - tries loading 1 of now 2007 or something, and can't get past 1. Times out.

Notice the version number above; it was much older, and I've since updated it 4 times to bring it up to where it is now where no additional updates are available at the moment. So as much as I'd like to blame it on an update, I hadn't had any automatic updates for a long time, so it wasn't that, and getting the updates now hasn't helped either.

Any suggestions?

Connection error: Certificates. Works, doesn't work Thunderbird 157 intermittently fails to connect to imap.shaw.ca:993 with SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER. It affects two separate Shaw email accounts, while Shaw Webmail continues to work normally.

Installed a week ago to replace MS365/ outlook Worked fine. But now it's acting up. Both my Shaw emails as well as my wife's email on her computer.

This does not happen with my domain emails.

Just checked email this morning and my sbcglobal.net account is not connecting in Thunderbird. I hit get messages and it only connects to my gmail account. It connected just fine yesterday, and I did not change anything on my PC or in Thunderbird, so I ruled that out. I have since tried several suggestions from the internet, google, and Mozilla websites. I do not have a VPN and no changes to firewall settings either. I tried setting it up with IMAP settings and with POP3 settings and always get the same error. (attached pic) Also used my saved password for the account which did not work, and then tried the ATT secure key code which did not work. I deleted the entire account and tried to set it up from scratch but that did not work either. Looking for any other suggestions to get this solved. Thanks!

I am on the latest release 156.0 on Windows 10. I have 3 email accounts, 2 gmail and 1 yahoo. The Yahoo account has been giving me problems since the last 2 weeks. Mind that yesterday I have a completely new Windows 10 installation so also TB installation is new.

I have renewed the Oath login, all messages were downloaded without a problem, but once in a while I get different notifications about server errors such as the ones below. There's also a third type of message error but haven't been able to get a screenshot of it.

Could someone please help me to solve this issue? I really don't understand why the problem is intermittent. Thanks in advance!

I have been using Thunderbird email on Linux Zorin OS connecting with att.net using POP3 for almost a year, but yesterday and today it will but connect. Yesterday, a system software update was available, and I proceeded with the update.

Norton 360 email protection is blocking access to "inbound.att.net" server and indicates that "Trust for (digicert global g2 tls rsa sha256 2020 ca1) has been revoked".

I disabled Norton's email protection feature, which allows me to connect to the inbound server.

I have attempted to run the Certificate Import tool, but the Norton's error reporter persists.

Who's problem is this? The certificate issuer or is Norton in error. I plan to open a case with Norton pending your response. ' Thanks

I have linked the connection settings, which from doing some research online appear to be the correct ones for this type of M365 account. It used to work, but I had to reset my password and reconnect the account, but was unsuccesful since then. I have enabled IMAP sync on Outlook settings as well.

Frequently, I can not receive and send emails. A restart or shut down of computer seems to fix this problem; however the restart and shut down also causes the problem. This inability to send and receive emails occurs several times during a 24 hour period. I get a pop up message saying ""The certificate for imap.shaw.ca does not come from a trusted source. Why do I get this message for many emails thta I know are from trusted sources?

I have Thunderbird configured to log in to 3 separate email accounts, one of which is a Yahoo email account. Several days ago, a message appeared that notified me that Thunderbird would not connect to the imap account in Yahoo. I tried changing the password by logging in to the Yahoo account via my browser, but Thunderbird still gives the error message. Do I need to delete the Yahoo account from Thunderbird and start over, or is there something else that can fix Thunderbird so I can use it for all 3 email accounts? Thank you.

I have been through all the steps and configurations and everything is set correctly but suddenly Thunderbird does not communicate with Gmail. I have tried everything. My passwords are correct and IMAP and STMP configurations are all correctly set. Now what?

I'm confident that this is not a Spectrum/Charter issue as I can log into their webmail client and send mail. I can also use the Mail app on my iPhone and send mail from my user@san.rr.com account. My settings are below and have not changed in many months (when SMTP was still working). I've also checked "Saved Logins" and verified that there are entries for IMAP and SMTP and that the password for both is the same and is correct.

This issue started last week on my Windows 11 PC (which has had updates paused since last month). I was previously using TB 128 and have subsequently updated to 140 and repaired my inbox trying to find this issue. When I attempt to send a message, I see "Status" Sending Message..." and a blue progress bar that never changes (TB_sending.png). The dialog box remains frozen for multiple minutes. I had seen a connection error message to SMTP in the past, but it usually disappeared the same day (see other screenshots). It feels like TB is not making a good STARTTLS handshake with mail.twc.com. I've tried switching to SSL/TLS port 465 and that has the same issues.

I was notified by the Cornell University IT department that "Microsoft will begin retiring Exchange Web Services (EWS), an older technology used by some email and calendar applications, starting October 1, 2026" and that my use of Thunderbird might be affected.

Thunderbird update to 156.0.1. After 2 days, it stopped accessing my email account. Get Messages does does not bring up password screen. Have confirmed that server settings are correct per ISP requirements. Thunderbird loads OK. Can see and access my previously downloaded emails. However, can NOT access email server for any new emails. No idea what to do or where to go. As is, Thunderbird is a useless program.
