Hi,
You can check the Windows Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices > Sounds for the Windows settings. If using a Windows theme you may also have to check its settings. Please note that Firefox usually doesn't have this functionality but can be possibly added using add-ons. You can also check the Options for any such add-ons via Firefox Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons.
Hi your reply is useful. But I have now no sounds in Sound and Audio Devices I dont think I have any Windows themes .. where do I find them? I have looked in firefox tools Add-ons but they dont seem to any related to sound Another way of discribing the sound it is like hitting a type writer key ,one for each letter please keep trying
I just tried and remove Firefox the re installed still get the type writer sound. R Page
Please also check in Safe Mode. Also, manually Disable all the Plugins to be sure. Safe mode disables the installed Extensions, and themes (Appearance) in Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons. Hardware acceleration is also temporarily disabled - the manual setting is Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Use hardware acceleration when available. Options > Advanced. All these settings/add-ons can also be individually and manually disabled/enabled/changed in Firefox normal mode to check if an extension, theme or hardware acceleration is causing issues.

Where was Firefox downloaded from?? You can right-click the Firefox installer and check the Digital Signature for Mozilla.
