Automatic setup does not allow me to enter "App Password" for Fastmail, does not connect to calendar and contacts.

I have a new laptop and am trying to link my Fastmail email account to Thunderbird as I have done in the past. Fastmail uses unique "App Passwords" for each device/app accessing the account, but the current version of Thunderbird does not ask for a password at all during the automatic setup. Based on the information provided about gmail it looks like perhaps this is happening automatically, but my contacts and calendar are not linking. I also got an email from fastmail indicating that a 3rd party calendar app was denied access because it didn't use an app password. Could use help linking calendar and contacts!

I have the same issue , thunderbird-142.0-1 manjaro linux latest 4/9/2025. Issue happens after update from thunderbird-141.0-1-x86_64 . Cannot roll back to earlier version as warning that latest version has modified the profile and it now cannot be used with earlier version. If I remember this exact problem occured with a Thunderbird update some years ago, the issue is related to thunderbird not selecting the correct account userid\password for the caldav authentication.

When the caldav sync is attempted now a window pops up with the correct username, and you can see there is a small window for the caldav password over the normal password box, but you can't select it. Only option is to enter the FastMail master password , but then sync fails as it doesn't have the caldav app password. At this point the pop up window seems to just stay in some loop forever until thunderbird is closed completely. The login box can be closed, but it just pops up in continuous loop at next sync. url at top of the login popup is: https://app.fastmail.com/oauth/?u=xxxxxxxx , so its trying to do some oauth login. Sorry - don't have reference to relier thunderbird issue from some years ago.
