Hi Steve
I am going to remove your email address from your question for your privacy and security as this is an open forum.
I recommend setting those about:config preferences back to their defaults. If Firefox is still crashes, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs (of crashes after you have reset those preferences) to help us learn more about your crash.
The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.
- Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A list of Submitted (and Unsubmitted, if any) Crash Reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
- Copy the 5 most recent Submitted Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.
Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.
(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)
Thank you for your help!
More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.
Hi I assume that you didn't get the crash reporter for those tab crashes (Gah. Your tab just crashed). Maybe check the Browser Console (Ctrl+Shift+J) to see if there are errors reported about those crashes.
- "3-bar" menu button -> Web Developer or Tools -> Browser Tools
- https://firefox-source-docs.mozilla.org/devtools-user/browser_console/
Reboot the computer into Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that has effect.
Hello Thanks for the quick reply.. and info. Appreciate the email being removed. Thanks for looking out. I will check into. I did reboot multiple times as well as following advice on line. As stated Nothing has worked. I see others complaining about the same crashes.
I have switched to google chrome. Imported all my settings and saved stuff from firefox over to chrome. Its working fine so far. no issues Actually faster too. Shocked me. So guess Im now a chrome user unless that acts up. Do plan on digging into firefox more as you suggested. I just had to switch because the constant crashing was really driving me crazy. My wife uses Chrome and really likes it.
Firefox had been my go to for years. Seems like firefox is having problems now though.
Thanks again think I will keep chrome and see how it goes. Firefox really needs to look in to this problem because appears others are seeing the same type crashes. Frustrating.
take care thanks again to the both of you. Greatly appreciated.
This just started happening to me on Nov. 29/24. The dreaded searchitnow has finally disappeared, but now Google isn't working. It starts to open, then I get the Gah notice with no way to report it. I use Google Search all the time, so this is really a big problem. Pages are also very slow to open. I have used Firefox almost from day one, and I don't like other browsers, but I may be forced to switch if this can't be fixed. I have a Mac running OS Monterey version 12.6.7.
