Why different os (linux/windows) can't see/read the saved passwords ANYMORE?
Please note the "ANYMORE"
I keep sharing the PROFILE FOLDER between linux and windows 8.1. It use to work almost perfectly. Eeverything worked, except extensions which for some reason get disable after switching the OS (even if i dont alter them in any os). All tabs/bookmars/passwords use to be there. now for some unknown reason firefox is unable to see/read/whatever the stored passwords UNDER LINUX. Luckily the passwords are still there when i get back to windows. I don't know when this started since i don't use linux that much anymore but if i remember corectly v57 didn't had this problem,
Did you guys started to developed different "versions" of firefox? its already annoying that now i have to re enable extensions after switching OS but not having any saved passwords under linux is a disater. next what it will be? bookmarks will not be available? then tabs?

Could you file a bug on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi ? And give us the bug number to let us follow it.
Perhaps you should use different profiles for each system, and use sync to share their data.
Are you using the Firefox version from the Mozilla server on Linux or the version from the repositories?
Current Firefox release no longer use key3.db, but use key4.db for the key file (logins.json is the same). So make sure you use the same Firefox version on both OS and also use the version from the Mozilla server.
i have both firefox version from mozilla download page. i've remove the one from repository a long time ago.
Did you check the read/write permissions and owner of all the files in the profile folder?
Are you only sharing the main profile folder or also the cache location or is the disk cache within the main profile folder and thus shared automatically?
Note that some files contain absolute links to some files and this can cause malfunctioning. If you have extensions that use local storage (IndexedDB) then this also might cause a problem.
i have the profile folder shared entirely. there is no problem of read/write. It seems that i'm not alone. someone else manage to duplicate the problem very easy
i can understand that some extensions might have absolute path references and thus it should not work when switching from one OS to the other. the extensions i'm using are adblock plus/disconnect me/duplicate tab closer since it use to work a long time ago (around v40 i think) I have no clue if any of them access relative of absolute path but i tend to believe that firefox is the problem and not the extension itself But the logins should work without a problem. those should not have and problem of path and files.
