When you logon to your webmail account using a browser, what forwarding mail option is selected: POP or IMAP ? Make sure this is correctly selected first. Some have both auto selected, some do not and you have to select, some only offer imap and others pop. so what have you get selected?

In Thunderbird, when creating a new mail account, you have to use the POP or IMAP option selected in the webmail account.

In Thunderbird: Menu icon > New Message > Existing Mail account or File > New > Exisitng mail account Enter name, email address and password (same one you use to access webmail) click on 'Continue' button Thunderbird will try to configure the server settings.

Make sure it has select the correct type - pop or imap.

If you are certain that the email address and password are correct and there is no accidental typos or hidden blank spaces included, then whilst these might be correct in themselves they may not be correct for the server settings selected.

So first make sure the POP or IMAP is correct as they use different settings.

You can use the 'Manual Config' button to manually change/edit settings. If still not working, please post an image of that window, so it is possible to see what settings you are using. OR you could click on 'Done' to create the mail account, even if not working and then post the following info: In Thunderbird Help > Troubleshooting Information clickon 'copy text to clipboard' paste info into this forum. you can edit/remove all the section on fonts and printers, but nothing else.

Either of these methods will show what settings you are trying to use.
