perhaps if you just had a few empty boxes so someone could write in the name of the search engine and firefox would know the complex URL's connected to the name of the search engine.............

I tried to use Firefox as my search engine but that didn't work so I re-downloaded DuckDuck, but the address bar say "search with google". I use to have DuckDuck but deleted it because I got tired of sites wanting to know my location. How do I get rid of that. I've tried all options in the settings file. I would prefer

Recent builds have changed the way that the user can direct queries to the various search engines that can be added (i.e. eBay, Wikipedia, IMDB etc) - to a new configuration that is awkward and forces more clicks.

Here is the method that currently allows reverting to the previous approach :

in about:config

Set string "browser.search.widget.new: to false

... and to delay automatic deletion of engines set "browser.search.widget.removeAfterDaysUnused" to thousands

Posting this for increased visibility for folks encountering the issue and in the hopes that Mozilla will consider not degrading a well-performing interaction pattern

Over the years I've added dozens of additional search engines; periodically I've "archived" lesser used search engines by toggling their visibility (to reduce clutter and speed up my search process), and when an "archived" engine becomes relevant to me again I've simply toggled the engine back to a visible state. However, as of version 152, this functionality appears to have been removed for user-added search engines. Is there a way to restore this functionality?

I've searched here and elsewhere on the web for a workaround, and perused the about:config variables, but have not been able to find anything. The show/hide functionality is still present for builtin search engines, so it seems like there must be some way to restore it for all search engines.

Why I can select a custom page for when a new window opens but NOT when I open a new tab? I am tired of using your search bar because it is defaulting to the country I am in rather than only giving me results using Google USA. This is causing the results to be in a language I am not interested in using. I do not want results using the local Google, I ONLY want results from Google USA regardless of where I am at in the world. Please allow us to select a custom url for the search bar as well as a set url for every time we open a tab (not just a window).

This is an older iMac. I already use Firefox on "my" side, which is most of the time. I hardly ever use "his" side, but I need to use it to register something under his email. Apple no longer updates our Safari as it's too old; therefore I NEED to use another browser to stay safe. I downloaded Firefox tonight for "his" side--and now I can't even go to the website I need WITHOUT going thru Google (whose nosiness I HATE). 1) SO WHAT SHOULD I DO? Second question: How do I get to his "Currently AT&T" Emails through Firefox?
