No passwords imported with bookmarks

Successfully imported all data from IE8 but although all my favourites are listed the passowords and auto complete history are missing. Have tried to export from IE to bookmark html file and then import into firefox but still no bookmarks. I cannot be bothered to re-install all this info even if I could find them all- so for me Firefox is a no go.
