When will McAfee Site Advisor be available on FF5?
Downloaded FF5 and was advised that McAfee site advisor was not compatible . I rely of this feature. Whose problem is it to fix--yours or McAfee? And when will it be fixed?

Mozilla blocklisted that add-on due to it being the #2 cause of crashes in the Firefox 5.0 beta versions. Mozilla contacted McAfee and discussed the problems the Site Advisor was causing prior to adding it to the blocklist. (it has been causing problems for many years now, it has been known as one of the most problematic extensions ever since McAfee bought that extension from the original developer)
McAfee is building an all new add-on, which they say should be available during the 3rd week of July.
IMO, the Site Advisor extension just duplicates features that are already built into Firefox since Firefox 2. It uses a different database and adds a few "bells & whistles", but given the problems is has caused over the years, it is unnecessary.

Thanks for your background info. I use WOT & Site Advisor. You say the FF has similar features built-in, how is this indicated? Is there an icon that i am overlooking?
Plainly Mozilla and McAfee organizations have issues between them. As long as I've been using FireFox, I've never heard of an add-on comparable to McAfee Site Advisor which I rely on. It has never misled me. Maybe I'll consider upgrading to FireFox 5 after McAfee issues it's update and I don't any longer get a warning on trying to install Firefox 5.

Where is the stuff that Site Advisor duplicates? I cannot find anything like it. Are you sure? You mean we have all been wasting our time with Site Advisor and you had it all along, built in somewhere?
Safe Browsing is part of Firefox. All such other add-ons from McAfee, Norton and other security appliction vendors, as well as similar built in functions in other browsers, use their own databases, so there will be some differences. No database is 100% correct 100% of the time, just as no AV/AS/Firewall application is 100% correct 100% of the time. I depend on Safe Browsing and do not use the add-on toolbar from my AV/AS/Firewall vendor.
With Safe Browsing, you will see one of the follow screens. You can click on "Why was this page blocked" for more information about the site. You can click "Get me out of here" to not enter the site. You can click "Ignore this warning" in the lower right corner to proceed to the site at your own risk.

As most of everyone else who upgraded to FF5 I have mcafee siteadvisor blocked (not mentioning skype extension and few others). It is a major disappointment, as I have been using FF for few years now. Also am a bit fed up with all concerning bouncing the ball... FF blames mcafee and the others, the other and mcafee blame FF and it is turning into a never ending story. Bottom line is: FF will apparently be updated on a monthly or so basis. By the time mcafee sorts out the issue their side, a new FF update might be out and will this happen all over again? I am not an expert, what I know is that these issues do not happen with IE9 nor chrome (which I am using now). It is very nice and commendable to update products and all that, but when this starts causing issues (how minor they are) to the end user, something must seriously be addressed by the responsible people.
