Did you have the standard Google page with Firefox skin, or a customized iGoogle page?

Old Firefox start page (US-English): http://www.google.com/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official

Restoring iGoogle: Upgraded to 4.0, but like my old homepage features that took me a long time to add. | Firefox Support Forum | Firefox Help

I want my old firefox 3.6 back! I was tricked into updating and I curse the person who devised the update...summary execution would be too good for them!

I'm not sure how you were tricked, but here is how you roll back.

First, make a backup of your computer for safekeeping. To back up Firefox, see Backing up your information.

Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older

Close Firefox 4, and uninstall it. Do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.

Then finally you can reinstall Firefox 3.6. Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, it should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.

Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!

Did I mention that I am not a computer engineer!....Back up my computer! I shouldn't have to do anything ...I want firefox to fix this mess! I am incredibly angry with them right now and will, in all likelihood, just change my browser to something else. If they can change things in an instant then they can change it back just as easily. I shouldn't have to waste my time or energy!

There is "Live Chat" support for Firefox, so another volunteer can give you more personal step-by-step assistance. I've never tried it myself, and no one seems to be online there at the moment.

Regarding making backups, data loss happens, so it's something you might want to devote a little time to sooner or later.

Chat? Surely you jest. They are always closed whenever I try to contact them. I leave for work early in the morning and would have to get up too early in order to have time to chat. By the time I get home they are closed. and they are closed on weekends. No access to internet at work. I'd try to call them but to my knowledge there is no customer service phone number and I would probably find myself in a phone system Twilight Zone if I were to call. And more than likely I will be faced with a huge number of tasks that I am not able understand much less carry out. Since I don't have an engineering degree I will be back to square one. I hate being negative but in the past I have wasted a lot of time chatting and have been completely frustrated with "help" menus. The least Firefox could have done was to show us customers what the home page was going to look like before luring us into the update. Fortunately, I am not forced to use Firefox but during the process of moving all of my favorites to another homepage I will be cursing Mozilla. I really don't think that any of those Mega companies care at all about the customers. They want as many subscribers as they can get ,any way they can get them. That way they can charge more to the advertisers who pollute our society with impunity. Hello Google.... I'm going to lay down and rest now...

Maybe this Fall's release of Firefox 5 will work better for you?

By the way, Mozilla is a non-profit which depends on a lot of volunteers. That probably explains quite a bit of the disorganization you find around here. Sorry we can't do more.
