When I open a new tab, I don't automatically go to it; it opens on the bar, but i have to click on it to get there...HELP!!

I got a new computer, and I am trying to set it up like my old one. I used to be able to open a new tab and it automatically showed on the screen. Now it opens, but whatever page I'm on when I open a new tab is where I stay. How do I get it to automatically go to the new tab?
