Basic help still needed, really still needed!
I selected "Tips and Tricks" because I always feel like everyone seems to understand the answers and I do NOT.
I have and donated to Firefox since it began. I think it is a great idea. I have severe dyslexia and ADHD.
I keep add-ons to a minimum and my home page free of everything. I use menus to find what I need. Having short-cuts all over is too distracting. When FF is not available and have to use another browser, I find it very difficult: they are loud, busy and ads are all over.
I am finding "help" more and more difficult to understand. Do the folks realize that I don't use computers all day long? That some people don't use the same definitions as people who work with computers? (I tried to find the meaning of "default" with 0 results, phrased the question many ways.)
I am hoping a beginners guide review would help, as thing have changed since Firefox was new or "Firefox for Dummies" was written!
Is is/are there basic manuals? Please help. ("Please don't respond with what help are you looking for" - that will not help the next problem).

Outside of economics and law, default is increasingly used as synonym for preset.
A 1982 Apple Computer manual for developers warned: "Please do not ever use the word default in a program designed for humans. Default is something the mortgage went into right before the evil banker stole the Widow Parson's house. There is an exhaustive list of substitutes (previous, automatic, standard, etc.)".
Apple support articles in 2023:
Return iPhone settings to their defaults
Thank you, zeroknigh, for your reply!
It does sound like a simple thing to use "preset" to describe the options used by the vender when your hardware/software was delivered (whether your unit is a Kindle, a browser, an iPhone or something the IT department uses).
However, this does not solve the problem of understanding the terms (especially "default") that FF uses when expecting users to trouble shoot problems.
Thank you for responding!
This article may help.

It's difficult to provide links on this site. If you know what searching is, search for computer terms.
I have read the article you recommend.
"If you know what searching is, search for computer terms." "default" Thank you for reinforcing my point.
Thank you for your reply.
If you need links to sites other than Mozilla sites, I suggest you ask on another Firefox forum such as that on fedia io, mozillazine org or even reddit com.
I use google search, but I really think Mozilla should have an answer.
