I really need someone’s help and I need it urgently I am way behind and need a solution. Someone at work installed some corporate software on my computer and crashed it. I was able to restore my files back to normal they were in windows.old. I have copied my logins.JSON and DB3 file into my profile, The one that it takes me to when I use run command. I deleted the existing logins.JSON And Db4 file Firefox was closed when I copied the older files into it and they are still there but when I open up Firefox now and go to passwords it still has zero passwords. I looked at the file in Excel and it has 5000 records so I know the data is there it’s just encrypted when I try to view it in excel. Please anyone that has a solution please help me

Just to be clear I’m trying to use an old key.db3 file it matches my logins.JSON. And I did delete the Key.db4 file. What am I doing wrong

The current Firefox does not use the key.db3 file.

logins.json and [v58+]key4.db : These are the password files. Copy Both !

Do you have the key4 file? How old are the password files you have?

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles {web link} I use a Legacy add-on that makes backups of my user profile, Just In Case. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with the current Firefox.

Every now and then, open the profile folder and create a copy of the current profile as is to another location on your hard drive. This way you will have a backup.

If you do this each day, you will not lose much data. This should be done with Firefox Closed.

Note: In case you need to restore from these backups, you may need to overwrite old or corrupted files.
