My old eyes can't see the Tbird mail icon outline in system tray. How to replace it with a solid shape?
I need something bold, big, white (or bright) and solid to pop into my system tray when new mail arrives. I'm surprised to find no way to slip in a different icon, or make the shape solid white. (Young eyes made that decision, perhaps?)
No, that Unread Badge add-on I've seen suggested elsewhere doesn't help. It hangs a circle with numbers in tiny print on my left-side Thunderbird icon. I have dozens of msgs that never will be read and don't need to know how many there are. I just need a big sign when there are NEW ones.
Please help -- I'll hack, teach myself code, anything to get good mail notification again.

A similar discussion suggests you may have to hack. There have been 3 icons in the last year, so maybe the next one will be an improvement.
I'm game. What shall I hack and where?
I can't help much here, but follow the related threads and the Bugzilla references:

No good news there. "Change icon" on the shortcut gave a choice of the Thunderbird icon or the current system tray envelope outline. Nothing changed.
Especially bad news, since the current release is v. 68.4.2: "I updated the daily build of Thunderbird to 74.0a1 (2020-01-15) (32-bit) and checked what new mail notification icon it used. It uses the same icon as the shortcut, not the white envelope or the blue Thunderbird icon." They aren't listening...
