Please help! I closed my business and no longer pay for domain services therefore no longer have access to my email address but I need to access my data I have critical stuff in my Firefox sync account. I obviously know my password and email but I can't click the link in the email because obviously it won't be delivering. Thoughts?

firefox doesn't provide email service other then thunderbird that connects to your email provider. You should contact your email provider for further assistance in retrieving your emails from them. This doesn't sound like a firefox email inbox request help from the reading of the request.

The issue has nothing to do with my email inbox or thunderbird. I am trying to login into Firefox Sync and when I do so it asks me to confirm the login by clicking the link in the email sent to me. I no longer have access to that email so I can not click the link. There is no other option or recovery tool beyond resending the email which does me no good.

Hi JohnnyBeGood1, is it too late to re-register your domain? I realize it's another $10-15, but if the data is really critical, you might have to do it. If you don't already have a favorite registrar, 1&1 (Ionos) includes 25 email addresses with the domain so you can get mail without buying hosting services: https://www.ionos.com/domains/domain-names

So the original hosting company I was with is holding my domain for ransom on an outstanding bill owed and has proven exceptionally difficult to get ahold of. I would LOVE to move my domain over to ionos as they are truly fantastic however it is parked with the original host company and I don't know when I can expect its release.

Sorry to hear that. The Firefox Accounts team might be able to offer a different method of verification, but I don't know whether that will be possible.

What happened to the local copy of your Firefox data?

Hi JohnnyBeGood1, I don't have any contacts with the services people. I'm adding the ESCALATE tag to this thread so hopefully someone an make a connection.

Hello JohnnyBeGood1,

I am forwarding this to a Sync developer - but it's weekend, so you may have to wait a while ......

I'm sorry, there may not be much we can do to help here.

Signing in to Firefox Sync requires email verification as an additional security measure to protect your synced data. If you have lost access to the original email address, you will not be able to access the data synced to that account.

> I am forwarding this to a Sync developer

Edited to add that, in case it wasn't clear, I'm one of the developers working on Sync.

I've also passed this thread on to the dev and product team more broadly, to see if there are things we could do to make the behaviour here more obvious.
