No messages. Just "connected to gmail" but nothing happens. When i try to send a message it says "sending of the message failed. An error occured while sending mail: Could not get password for smtp.googlemail.com. The message was not sent" Same things happens when i use aol, aim etc....

Well, I backed up profile and reinstalled Tbird. For the most part it works. Only problem i have now is I cannot migrate a few folders from my old profile. I have copied .msf files into the new install but they don't show up. Trying to access important documents.

MSF files are so unimportant you can delete them. The mail is in a file with the same name in the same location with no file extension. That is unless the account is IMAP and the mail is not stored on the device. In which case only the MSF is present. You can still delete it and it will be recreated though.

Could not get password looks like your password store may be corrupt and need deleting, not the whole profile.

delete key3.db and signons. either text or sqlite or both. as the txt was replaced with the SQLite version.

I have seen a couple of these corrupt password stores following recent updates and I have a suspicion it is anti virus related, but have not gained sufficient information on what anti virus is in use to be sure.

Thanks Matt. That did the trick. I was putting the wrong files (msf) in the wrong folder. For some reason i had two folders with similar names. One has a 1 at the end. Copied the files you mentioned. Got important documents back. I still have a intermittent problem with Tbird freezing randomly. Don't know what is causing that.Matt said
