How do I change my mail password.

I recently had to change my gmail password because I thought someone had been fisching for my data. Each time I re-start Thunderbird it asks for my new password, but then does not store it. I can log in OK for the session, but I have to do it again next time. I have attempted to find the field in account information, but have failed. Can someone help please.

There is a check box to remember the password in the password prompt pop up.

I do tick the check box and it still does not keep the password. This is very annoying. It only started after a recent upgrade to Thunderbird. Also Thunderbird occasionally forgets the password in the same session.
