Since Windows 10 Thunderbird hangs after PC sleep. Have to restart. No error messages or other symptoms. (bug 1196662)
Since upgrading to Windows 10 - I notice that 99% of the time, after I resume the PC from sleep mode, Thunderbird will be frozen. Curiously, you can close it down with the top right X button - but nothing else seems to work. I get no other symptoms (that I am aware of) - no error messages - no mysterious boxes. After closing down and re-launching everything works ok until the next sleep. The only other possible factor - although I can see no reason why it should be - is that my O2 mail account (which I sued for incoming mail) finally stopped working and I am now using my CIX mail account for both incoming and outgoing. Thanks. (I can send troubleshooting data if required.)

P.S. Sorry if this is a repeat but I can see no solutions so far.
Just noticed - sometimes it is not totally dead but has stopped automatically downloading emails. I can manually download - but have to restart before automatic process works again.
try resetting the network adapter. Apparently the upgrade to windows 10 does not reset it correctly.
Usually the symptom is no connectivity. But it is worth trying as the type of issue your describing in other Windows version are caused by Network adapters going to sleep. That should remain awake if there is an application using them (Thunderbird). Closing the lid of a windows laptop and letting everything go into hibernation is also a bad thing. Random errors do start appearing after about a week of doing that.
Hi Matt. I'm afraid that seems to have made no difference. I'm also not happy to accept the suggestion of not using 'sleep' or 'hibernate' - I have seen this suggested in several forums - since these are well established and useful features. In any case, I have been using the sleep function for years under Windows 7 with no ill effects. I am grateful for your help - but I don't think we have made much progress. Kind regards, Michael
Also tried running Thunderbird with Add-Ons Disabled ... no apparent difference.
Still no solution?

Thanks, Wayne. So, I just have to be patient and wait for the next release / update?
Update ... I have recently upgraded from POP3 to IMAP and the problem seems to have gone away.
Just noticed - it is not yet perfect ... seems to need some sort of action to restart the receiving process (e.g. sending an email). But still better than having to shut down the application and re-launch.
