...since the update top ver 39, I am having issues with teh ZDNet site. I can open the page read articles, but cannot view comments or sign in to respond. When I click on the sign in icon, I do not get the sign in menu.

I have made no change to my privacy or security settings that would have caused this. I had no issue logging in from my notebook however that system is currently experiencing the display blanking out shortly after it boots up so for the time being, I am forced to use my workstation for my Net activities. The workstation is a standalone in my residence, not part of any company network so there are no company enforced restrictions. Both the workstation and Notebook use the same AV software and have the same firewall setup as well as FF plugins and add ons, so I should not be experiencing this.

Don't you get the popup like in the screenshot after clicking on LOG IN TO ZDNET upper right?

Alternately, you can login directly from this page: https://secure.zdnet.com/user/login/.

...what I am not getting is the little red circle next to the icon (which turns white after one is logged in) that opens the menu for the drop down. Even after clicking on the link provided the circle still does not show up, so when I place the cursor on it and click, nothing happens.

I have no idea of what would be blocking the site from working as again I have the same setup on the notebook same AV same level of firewall, and I had no issue logging in on it (although I do have an older version of FF as it is a 32 bit system and the newer versions of FF tend to bloat in memory until they exceed the 2 GB allowed and then freeze).

This is what I get after logging in when I use that link:

Ok, thanks for the screenshot. Try to login by using Firefox Safe Mode.

To start Firefox in Safe Mode:

  1. Click on the menu button in the top right-hand corner
  2. Click on ? below and select Troubleshooting Information
  3. Click on Restart with Add-ons Disabled
