can't open email in search results

Hi,

I did a search through some old emails but with some, whilst I can see the start of the email in the search results list, when i click on the subject to open, it just goes to a blank inbox with a link to the support forum?

But is the email actually in thunderbird? If it is not in thunderbird then it will not be able to display it.

If using Global Search, it is possible the database contains markers to old deleted emails.

Do you compact your folders on a regular basis? Compacting removes all traces of 'Marked as deleted' emails and regains space in the mbox file.

make hidden files and folders visible:

In thunderbird:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • click on 'Show folder'
  • it will open another window showing Profile folder.
  • Close Thunderbird now - this is important
  • scroll down and look for global-messages-db.sqlite file
  • Delete this file.

Open thunderbird and allow time for the index to rebuild. Retest the search.
