Firefox and IE forcing me to use their email system when I reply link
I'm tired of having to copy and paste an email address to Thunderbird from a Website while using Firefox or IE, in Windows 8.1
I should be able to double-click the email on the site and be directed to Thunderbird in my system to write and send. Instead I get a screen asking me to switch to Outlook, Yahoo and a couple of others. HOW DO I STOP THIS MAJOR PAIN, without cancelling Thunderbird?
Thanks, Scott

Set Thunderbird as default email client. Check default MAIL TO protocol settings:
Control Panel > "Default Programs", click on "Associate a file type or protocol with a program" Under 'Protocols' MAIL TO : set default as Thunderbird click on 'close'
Retest a Firefox browser email address mailto link.
Close Thunderbird.
Control Panel > Default Programs > Set program associations Select 'thunderbird' click on 'choose defaults for this program' Select all the following: Extension:
- .eml
- .wdseml
Protocols:
- MAIL TO
Start Menu
- E-mail Link
click on Save
Default Programs -> Set Program Access and Computer Defaults
Select : 'Custom'
click on the down arrow to show more
under 'choose a default email program'
Select: 'Mozilla Thunderbird' and 'enable access to this program'
uncheck all other email clients and all other 'enable access to this program'.
click on OK
