TB will stop downloading emails and won't again until computer is rebooted

This started happening about a month or so ago. TB will be fine and download my email. Then it won't do it anymore. It will act like it is trying but nothing happens. If I close and re-open it, it still will not download. When this happens, the only way that it will do it again is if I reboot my computer. Sometimes it happens daily, sometimes it happens every 2-3 days.

It has nothing to do with my mail server I am downloading from. My hard drive is running lower on space (still has almost 60GB free), but I don't see how that is the problem since it works fine again on reboot. It has happened after compacting, but not all the time. I regularly delete the trash folders.

Has anyone else experienced this or have any thoughts as to what may be causing it? Could it have been something in one of the upgrades?

It should not effect emails, just clear the cache -part then you feel safer. I guess that chat conversation can be deleted. I don't use chat myself.

It could be cache limits. try clear resent history. If your folders are big remember it reads a lot into memory when you access them. Use local folders and move attachment elsewhere keeping a link instead of the whole file in the mail. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Keep_it_working_-_Thunderbird

With the clear recent history, just what does that remove? Does it effect any email?

Thank you. I cleared the cache and will come back and let you know if that did the trick. I never use chat, either.

So far clearing the cache seems to have done it. Prior to that, it stopped downloading two straight days. Much thanks!

Well, I spoke too soon as it has done it again.
