I have a PC laptop running Windows and Firefox 31.0 and a Mac G4 running something like OS 10.4? i think, and a very old Firefox. All I want is access to the bookmarks. Is there a way to sync the accounts, or, barring that, a way to copy over the whole bookmarks file from the Mac to the PC? Thank you.

You can't use Firefox Sync, it requires that all the machines be using the new version and 10.4 doesn't support that (you should consider upgrading the 10.4 machines, that's not a good OS to run online due to security risks).

You can copy the bookmarks file however, Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles, but note that moving that many Firefox versions may lead to corruption.

I don't know if the TenFourFox version supports sync

The last Firefox version that runs on Mac OS X 10.4 is Firefox 3.6.28.

Current Firefox versions require a Mac with an Intel processor and OS X 10.6 (Firefox 16 runs on Intel Mac OS X 10.5).

For an unofficial Firefox 31.0 ESR compatible version that runs on a PowerPC Mac with OS X 10.4.11 or OS X 10.5.8 you can look at TenFourFox.

Thanks so much, Tyler & cor-el. The Mac G4 is not really upgradable, I know. I barely even log on to the internet anymore on the Mac. I use the PC for that, nowadays. I use it primarily for my graphics stuff.

I'll check out the Firefox profiles option (using dropbox) and will report back. Thanks again.

(& may I ask an auxiliary question here? How do I get Mozilla Support to email me when a question gets a response? I double-checked my profile, and I have all the notification boxes checked, and my valid email is there....?)

They just showed up!! (a few days late!) ???

Hi again. I decided to do it the low-tech way: copied all the bookmarks into a text file and dropboxed it to the new computer. Am able to test them and toss them if need be that way. I think it'll work. A little time consuming, yes, but kinda fun.
