Whenever i open a new tab browser.newtab.url http://www.trovi.com/?gd=&ctid=CT3319709&octid=EB_ORIGINAL_CTID&ISID=M05359C95-E90E-459D-8139-12649223 is what populates it. I found that it resides in the location above. Is there a way to access that file and delete it?

Thanks, David

browser.newtab.url is a pref located in the internal page about:config. There could be more things that are affected by Trovi.

  1. Go to about:config via the Address Bar (Ctrl + L)
  2. Press the button saying you'll be careful
  3. Search for Trovi then reset all prefs that pull up (right click > Reset)

A few more things to do:

Remove any programs that you don't recognize or remember installing from your Control Panel (Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a Program)

Remove any extensions that you don't recognize or remember installing from Firefox.

  • Firefox 29 and above:(Press the menu button (The image "new fx menu" does not exist. > Add-ons > Extensions)
  • Firefox 28 and below:(Go to the orange Firefox button > Add-ons > Extensions)

Download ADW Cleaner to wipe out any remnants of the adware.
