I just created an account on this website and would like to watch the tool demos (videos) in their education center. I can not get them to play. The play icon just turns to pause and the large play icon (triangle/pointer) in the video frame center simply disappears. This website also has a dock with various modules, one of which is a video player. If I try this one, video plays here no problem. The same goes for any other place I can find video - it all plays, just not in this one (very much needed) place.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Thanks but no luck with that... on the video frame that will not play, I did right click, inspect element, select console, and I see the following message: "No videojs defined on window object. VideoManager will not work. You will need to load a valid Brightcove js player for VideoManager to work properly." Not sure if this helps but I have thus far been unable to find a solution searching brightcove. Sounds like it should just be an add on or plugin that's easily downloaded but I've not found it.

That could possibly suggest that there is a problem on that website and that this video is no longer available.

Does this video work in other browsers?

Thanks again! Here's what I found - it would not play when I switched back to Safari so I went back to Firefox and refreshed/reset it and still would not play. I began to suspect the site too but I then used a laptop running Microsoft and logged into the site and they played no problem. So, I can watch them there but I can't get past knowing that something's not right with my Mac. I still want to figure it out, whether it's something I did/changed myself or whether there's some sort of malware on my Mac that's keeping itself well hidden. Yea, I'm a little paranoid but justifiably so given the nature of the net and all the bad players out there, IMO.
