Upon opening T-bird, why is Drafts folder always bolded and show (1)?

Even though there is no draft email in my "Drafts" folder when I load T-bird each day, it is always bolded and shows that there is (1) in the folder. Like a crazy person, I keep clicking on it each day to see if something is there (which there isn't), but it does remove the bolding and (1), which makes me very happy.

Is there some switch or setting I need to change?

Try to right-click Drafts - Mark Folder Read

Having to Mark Folder as Read is exactly what I'm trying to avoid having to do in the first place.

Again, each time I load Thunderbird, and even sometimes while I'm working within it, the Drafts Folder is bolded and shows "(1)" next to it, as though there is one draft email in there. But when I click on the Folder, there is nothing there; however, clicking on it does remove the bolding and the "(1)."

But I never know for sure, so I always click on it. Why does it distract me like this?
