What did Easy File Transfer copy, and where did it put what it copied? ISTR other users discovering that it didn't include Thunderbird's profile.

If it did what you might reasonably expect it to do, then your files would have been automatically and silently replaced where they belong and you wouldn't be here asking this question.

I used Easy File transfer to copy TBird from one computer. I presume this included emails. Then I open EFT from the flash drive on new computer, I click on it, and then it seems to upload the data somewhere on my computer, but I don't know where. There are no prompts, and the emails are not transferred into the TBird program on my new computer. Does that make sense?

Create backup of the profile folder on old pc. Profile name is usually called 'xxxxxxx.default' where the x's are letters and numbers. It should be in this location: C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<Profile name>\

On new pc. Install Thunderbird Run it the first time to create a new profile, but do not create any mail accounts as you want to use old pc profile.

In Thunderbird Help > Troubleshooting Information click on 'Show folder' a new window opens showing the Contents of you new profile folder. Close Thunderbird now - this is important

Open the backup profile folder name, so you can see the contents which will include a load of files and folders including 'Mail' folder. These are the all files and folders you need to copy and paste into the new profile name, overwriting all the default files and folders.

So you are not copy pasting the profile folder name, you are copy pasting all the contents of the profile fodler name from one profile to another.

Restart Thunderbird.

On the Thunderbird help website, it suggests migrating to another computer can be done through Windows' Easy File Transfer, and contains directions on how to upload TBird email data to a flash drive.

But there are no instructions on what to do next. I uploaded the data to a flash drive and then put the flash drive in my new computer. I clicked on the EFT icon, and the data was apparently downloaded somewhere on my computer.

I am not sure how to 1) find my old emails or 2) migrate them into my TBird program on my new computer.

There has to be a simple solution to this.
